Every Cutler & Smyth knife comes to life at our workshop in the West Country.
Blades start as strips of SF100 stainless steel, which are laser-cut into individual blanks.
These are batch-hardened to 1080ºC for optimal strength, then cooled and tempered.
Using CNC technology, we then precision-grind the blades to exact specifications before
finishing each one by hand.
Our handles are crafted using bespoke tooling on a CNC router to create components from Richlite's Black Diamond. Each element is then assembled with brass custom-made rivets and a mosaic centre pin, shaped, and polished by our cutlers.
Finally, every knife undergoes the ultimate test — hand sharpening to razor-like precision.
This painstaking process combining tradition with technology results in knives that are not just tools, but beautiful design pieces in their own right.
